Comparison review
Xperia Tablet S is slightly better than the Acer Iconia One 8, with a global score of 58.9 against 53.7. Xperia Tablet S's construction is noticeably older, incredibly heavier and noticeably thicker than Acer Iconia One 8. Both of these devices use Android OS, but Xperia Tablet S has the previous 4.1.1 version while Acer Iconia One 8 has Android 5.1 Lollipop version.
The Xperia Tablet S features a little bit better looking display than Acer Iconia One 8, because although it has a just a bit inferior count of pixels per inch in the screen, and they both have the same exact resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels, the Xperia Tablet S also counts with a bigger screen. Sony Xperia Tablet S counts with a much bigger storage capacity for apps and games than Acer Iconia One 8, and although they both have a slot for an external memory card that allows a maximum of 128 GB, the Sony Xperia Tablet S also has 64 GB internal storage capacity.
The Xperia Tablet S features a little bit better hardware performance than Acer Iconia One 8, and although they both have a 1 GB RAM and the same number of cores, the Xperia Tablet S also has an additional graphics processing unit. Acer Iconia One 8 counts with just a bit better camera than Xperia Tablet S, although it has a camera with way less mega-pixels resolution.
The Acer Iconia One 8 has a much better battery duration than Xperia Tablet S.
Although Xperia Tablet S is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Acer Iconia One 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Acer Iconia One 8. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy Acer Iconia One 8, letting go a couple features, but you will get the most out of your budget.
