Microsoft Surface 3 has a global score of 66.3, which is much better than the Amazon Fire HD 6's 55 score. The Microsoft Surface 3 construction is noticeably heavier but somewhat thinner than the Amazon Fire HD 6, and they were only released with a couple months difference. Amazon Fire HD 6 counts with a much better looking screen than Microsoft Surface 3, because although it has a way worse resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and a way smaller display, it also counts with a little bit more pixels per inch in the screen.
Microsoft Surface 3 counts with a way bigger memory capacity to install games and applications than Amazon Fire HD 6, because it has 128 GB internal memory. The Microsoft Surface 3 counts with a little faster processor than Amazon Fire HD 6, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Microsoft Surface 3 also has a higher amount of RAM.
The Microsoft Surface 3 counts with a very superior camera than Amazon Fire HD 6, and although they both have the same video quality and the same video frame rates, the Microsoft Surface 3 also has a way better resolution back-facing camera. Amazon Fire HD 6 and Microsoft Surface 3 both count with extremely similar batteries performance.
Although Microsoft Surface 3 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Amazon Fire HD 6, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Amazon Fire HD 6. If you want to save some dollars, you can buy Amazon Fire HD 6, and give up a few specs and features, but you will get the most with your savings.
