Comparison review
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is much better than the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), with a global score of 67.9 against 59.7. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a noticeably older and just a little bit heavier tablet than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), but Amazon managed to make it a lot thinner anyway. Both of these devices use Android OS, but the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has older 4.4 version while Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) has Android 9.0 Pie.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a much sharper display than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), because it has a much higher pixel count per inch of display, a quite larger display and a much better 1600 x 2560 resolution. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features just a bit better processing power than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), although it has less RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a much better camera than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), because it has a way more mega-pixels camera and a much better (Full HD) video quality. Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) features a much better memory to store more apps and games than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, because although it has only 32 GB internal storage capacity, it also counts with a slot for an external memory card that holds a maximum of 1000 GB.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 and Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) count with very similar batteries duration.
Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020). So if you need that extra specs, you can buy Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), giving up a couple specifications.
