Comparison review
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) is a bit better than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), getting a global score of 60.4 against 59.7. Both tablets we compare here include Android OS (Operating System), but the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) has older 5.1 Lollipop version while Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) has Android 9.0 Pie. Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) is an extremely older tablet than the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), but Samsung managed to make it thinner and extremely lighter anyway.
Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) has a bit faster CPU than Galaxy Tab A (2016), and although they both have a Quad-Core processor, the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) also has a higher amount of RAM memory. Galaxy Tab A (2016) has a bit more vivid screen than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), because although it has a quite smaller screen, and they both have the same exact 800 x 1280px resolution, the Galaxy Tab A (2016) also counts with a just a bit higher quantity of pixels per inch of display.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) features a very superior camera than Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), and although they both have the same (HD) video resolution and the same video frame rates, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) also has a way more MP back-facing camera. Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020) features much more storage capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Galaxy Tab A (2016), because it has more internal storage and an external memory card slot that supports a maximum of 1000 GB.

So if you want that extra features, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016), otherwise you can save some money and buy the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (2020), giving up a couple specs and features.
