The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is much better than Microsoft Surface RT, having a 67.9 score against 58.4. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with Android 4.4 operating system, while Microsoft Surface RT counts with Windows RT operating system. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 construction is newer, much lighter and thinner than the Microsoft Surface RT.

The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a little bit better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface RT, although it has doesn't have an additional graphics processing unit, they both have the same number of cores and a 2 GB RAM. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a much more vibrant screen than Microsoft Surface RT, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a way better 1600 x 2560 pixels resolution and a lot better pixels number per inch of screen.

The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a way better camera than Microsoft Surface RT, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also has a back-facing camera with a much higher resolution. Microsoft Surface RT features as much memory capacity for games and applications as the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, both of them have equal internal storage.

Microsoft Surface RT has a battery lifetime that's just as good as the battery life in Amazon Fire HDX 8.9.

Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Microsoft Surface RT, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Microsoft Surface RT. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, but if you don't you can save some dollars and buy the Microsoft Surface RT, letting go some features and specifications.
