Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) is slightly better than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, having a 74.5 score against 67.9. Both of these tablets work with Android OS, but the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) has a more recent 4.4.2 version and Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has Android 4.4 version. Even being the best in this review, we must tell that it is also an older, just a bit thicker and a lot heavier tablet.
GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) counts with a bit better performance than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, and although they both have the same number of cores, the GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) also has an extra graphics co-processor and more RAM memory. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a bit sharper display than Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), because although it has a little bit smaller display, and they both have exactly the same resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also counts with a quite higher number of pixels in each inch in the screen.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a way bigger memory for applications and games than Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), because although it has no external memory slot, it also counts with 48 GB more internal memory capacity. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a slightly better camera than Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). Both have the same video frame rates, a same resolution camera and the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution.
Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) features a very superior battery duration than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9.
