The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 body is newer and noticeably thinner than Galaxy Tab 3 7.0's, but it's also somewhat heavier. Both tablets in this review have Android OS (Operating System), but Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has the older 4.4 version while Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has Android 4.4.2 version.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a lot better screen than Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, because it has a much better 1600 x 2560 pixels resolution, a much greater pixels number per screen inch and a bigger display. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a bit faster processor than Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, because although it has doesn't have an extra GPU, it also counts with 512 MB more RAM memory and a larger number of faster cores.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a much bigger storage for apps and games than Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, because although it has no SD extension slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has a superior battery duration than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a lot better camera than Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, because it has a way more mega pixels back facing camera.
Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, and give up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your money.
