The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is a little bit better than the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), having a overall score of 68.5 against 65.7. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9's body is somewhat thinner than the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), although it's just a little bit heavier and was released many years before. Both of these tablets come with Android OS (Operating System), but the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has the previous 4.2.2 version and Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) has Android 9.0 Pie.

The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a more powerful processor than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), and although they both have a Quad-Core processor and 2 GB of RAM, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 also has an additional graphics co-processor. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 features an incredibly better looking display than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), because it has a way better resolution of 1600 x 2560, a little bit bigger display and a way better pixels count per screen inch.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) has a greater camera than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, and although they both have a back facing camera with an 8 mega pixels, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) also has a larger diafragm aperture to capture better photography and video in low-light environments. Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a bit bigger storage to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), because although it has no SD memory card expansion slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal memory capacity.

Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) has a much longer battery life than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
