The Apple iPad Air (2019) is a a lot newer and much thinner tablet than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, although it's somewhat heavier. The Apple iPad Air (2019) has a greater processing power than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, because although it has doesn't have an extra GPU, it also counts with a greater number of faster cores, 1 GB more RAM memory and a 64-bit processor.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a better screen than Apple iPad Air (2019), because although it has way more opaque display and a bit smaller screen, it also counts with a slightly better 1600 x 2560 resolution and a greater quantity of pixels per inch of display.
