Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a score of 82.4, which is much better than iPad Air (2020)'s global score of 71.7. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is a much older, much thicker and noticeably heavier tablet than the iPad Air (2020). Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has Windows 10 Pro OS, and iPad Air (2020) comes with iPadOS 14.x OS.
IPad Air (2020) features a quite superior processing power than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), because it has a greater number of cores and a 64-bit CPU. Apple iPad Air (2020) counts with a bit better looking screen than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), although it has a little bit smaller screen, a little bit worse resolution of 1640 x 2360px and a just a bit less pixels per inch in the screen.
Apple iPad Air (2020) captures a lot better photos and videos than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), because it has a much higher 3840x2160 (4K) video definition and a back facing camera with a much better resolution. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has much more storage for games and applications than Apple iPad Air (2020), because it has 936 GB more internal memory capacity.

So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and buy the iPad Air (2020), giving up some specifications.
