Both of these devices use Android OS (Operating System), but Dell Venue 8 7840 has older 4.4 version while Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has Android 7.1 Nougat. Dell Venue 8 7840's body is noticeably lighter and somewhat thinner than Galaxy Tab A 9.7.
