Both of these tablets work with Android operating system, but the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) has the newer 9.0 Pie version and Google Nexus 7 (2013) has Android 5.0 version. The Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) is a noticeably newer and thinner tablet device than the Google Nexus 7 (2013), although it is just a little heavier.
