Both of these tablets include Windows OS (operating system), but the Microsoft Surface RT has RT version while HP ElitePad 1000 has Windows 8.1. Although Microsoft Surface RT is better than the HP ElitePad 1000, we must highlight that it is also an older, a little bit thicker and a little heavier portable tablet.

Microsoft Surface RT features a bit better screen than HP ElitePad 1000, because although it has a much worse screen pixels density and a way lower resolution of 768 x 1366px, it also counts with a little larger screen. The HP ElitePad 1000 features a superior storage for apps and games than Microsoft Surface RT, because although it has no slot for an external memory card, it also counts with 128 GB internal memory capacity.

The Microsoft Surface RT features a really superior hardware performance than HP ElitePad 1000, because although it has a lower amount of RAM memory, it also counts with a higher number of cores and a GPU. Microsoft Surface RT's battery life is very similar to the battery performance in HP ElitePad 1000.

HP ElitePad 1000 captures much better photographs and videos than Microsoft Surface RT, and although they both have the same video frame rates and the same (Full HD) video resolution, the HP ElitePad 1000 also has a back camera with a lot higher resolution.

Despite of being the best tablet of the ones we are comparing here, Microsoft Surface RT is also a bargain compared to the other devices, making it an easy decision.
