Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a global score of 67.9, which is a little bit better than the Microsoft Surface 2's score of 63.4. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a newer tablet, and it is also incredibly lighter and somewhat thinner than Microsoft Surface 2. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with Android 4.4 OS, and Microsoft Surface 2 has Windows RT 8.1 OS.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a much sharper display than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, it also counts with a higher resolution of 1600 x 2560 and a lot better display pixel density. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a bit better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface 2. Both of them have the same number of cores and a 2 GB RAM memory.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 and Microsoft Surface 2 both have really similar memory capacity for apps and games, and although the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has no slot for SD memory cards, they both have equal 64 GB internal storage capacity. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's battery life is very similar to the Microsoft Surface 2 one.
