Comparison review
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is just a bit better than the Microsoft Surface 3, getting a 67.9 score against 66.3. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's body is extremely lighter and thinner than the Microsoft Surface 3, even though both of them were only released with a few months difference. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a much sharper screen than Microsoft Surface 3, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a higher resolution of 1600 x 2560px and a much greater pixel amount per display inch.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a little better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface 3, although it has a smaller amount of RAM, they both have a Quad-Core processing unit. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 shoots clearer videos and photos than Microsoft Surface 3. Both of them have the same 1920x1080 video definition, a camera in the back with an 8 megapixels and the same video frame rate.
The Microsoft Surface 3 features a very superior memory capacity to install games and applications than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, because it has 64 GB more internal storage capacity. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a battery life that's just as good as the battery performance in Microsoft Surface 3.
Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a better device, it costs more than the Microsoft Surface 3, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Microsoft Surface 3. If you prefer to save some money, you can buy the Microsoft Surface 3, letting go some specs and features, but you will get the most out of your budget.
