The Huawei MediaPad M5 8 has a general score of 75.5, which is much better than the Microsoft Surface 3's score of 66.3. Huawei MediaPad M5 8 is a much newer device, and it's also notably lighter and somewhat thinner than Microsoft Surface 3.
