Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a bit better than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, with a score of 68.5 against 66.3. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a way heavier and somewhat thicker portable tablet than the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 comes with Windows 8.1 Pro OS, while Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 comes with Android 4.4 OS.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a little better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, it also counts with a larger number of cores (and they are faster). The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a sharper screen than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, because although it has a really smaller screen, it also counts with a much greater pixels density and a quite better resolution of 1600 x 2560.
