The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is better than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, with a score of 67.9 against 61.4. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has Android 4.4 OS, and Microsoft Surface Pro 3 works with Windows 8.1 Pro OS. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 design is thinner and incredibly lighter than the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, even when both of them were released with only a few months difference.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a little better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, it also counts with a larger number of cores (and they are faster). The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 features a sharper screen than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, because although it has a really smaller screen, it also counts with a much greater pixels density and a quite better resolution of 1600 x 2560.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 takes better pictures and videos than Microsoft Surface Pro 3, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same video quality, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also has a back camera with a way better resolution. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's memory to store more apps and games is just as good as the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 one, and although the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has no SD card slot, they both have exactly the same internal memory capacity.
The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a battery lifetime that's very similar to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 one.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 costs a bit more than the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, but it's still a convenient choice, as you can get a lot more for that extra money.
