Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is slightly better than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, having an 81.5 score against 78.8. The Microsoft Surface Pro 6 is a noticeably heavier and somewhat thicker portable tablet than Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. Galaxy Tab S4 counts with a little bit better performance than Microsoft Surface Pro 6, because although it has 12 GB less RAM, it also counts with 4 more processing cores.
The Galaxy Tab S4 counts with a bit better looking screen than Microsoft Surface Pro 6, because although it has a quite smaller display and a bit worse resolution of 1600 x 2560, it also counts with a just a little higher screen density. Galaxy Tab S4 features a greater camera than Microsoft Surface Pro 6, because it has a lot higher video quality and a back facing camera with a way higher resolution.
Microsoft Surface Pro 6 has a superior storage capacity to store more apps and games than Galaxy Tab S4, because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with more internal storage capacity. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 counts with a very superior battery performance than Microsoft Surface Pro 6.

If you want to save some dollars, you can buy the Galaxy Tab S4, and give up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
