Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 has a general score of 67.8, which is much better than the Microsoft Surface RT's 58.4 overall score. Galaxy Tab 4 10.1's body is newer, lighter and thinner than Microsoft Surface RT. Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 has Android 4.4.2 operating system, while Microsoft Surface RT has Windows RT operating system.
Microsoft Surface RT features a bit superior processing unit than Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, and although they both have a Quad-Core processing unit, the Microsoft Surface RT also has more RAM memory and a faster GPU. Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 counts with a bit sharper display than Microsoft Surface RT, because although it has a bit worse resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a bit better screen density.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 captures a lot better photos and videos than Microsoft Surface RT, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 1280x720 (HD) video resolution, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 also has a much more mega pixels camera in the back. The Microsoft Surface RT features a much bigger memory capacity to store more apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, because although it has no slot for external memory cards, it also counts with 48 GB more internal memory capacity.

Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is a little more expensive than the Microsoft Surface RT, but it's still a good choice, because you can get a lot more for that extra money.
