The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a score of 67.9, which is a bit better than the Samsung ATIV Tab 3's 65 global score. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has Android 4.4 OS, while Samsung ATIV Tab 3 comes with Windows 8 OS. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 construction is newer, just a little thinner and notably lighter than Samsung ATIV Tab 3.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a bit better processing unit than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have a 2 GB RAM, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also has 2 more processing cores. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a much sharper display than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a much higher display pixel density and a much better resolution of 1600 x 2560.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's storage capacity for games and applications is very similar to Samsung ATIV Tab 3's one, and although the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has no slot for an SD memory card, they both have the same 64 GB internal memory capacity. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 shoots way better videos and photos than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 video definition and the same video frame rate, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also has a way higher 8 mega-pixels resolution back camera.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9's battery life is very similar to the battery lifetime in Samsung ATIV Tab 3.
Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Samsung ATIV Tab 3. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Samsung ATIV Tab 3, resigning some features and specs.
