The Xperia Tablet Z is a little bit better than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, having a overall score of 68.5 against 65. Xperia Tablet Z is a somewhat lighter and somewhat thinner tablet than the Samsung ATIV Tab 3, even though both of them were released with only 5 months difference. The Xperia Tablet Z has Android 4.4.4 operating system, while Samsung ATIV Tab 3 comes with Windows 8 operating system.
The Xperia Tablet Z counts with a bit more vivid screen than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have a screen of the same size, the Xperia Tablet Z also has a higher pixel density and a much higher 1200 x 1920px resolution. The Samsung ATIV Tab 3 has a little bit more storage capacity to store more games and applications than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has no external memory card slot, it also counts with more internal memory.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z counts with a bit superior CPU than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have the same RAM memory amount, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z also has an additional graphics co-processor and 2 more processing cores (although slower). The Xperia Tablet Z has a much better battery life than Samsung ATIV Tab 3.
The Xperia Tablet Z captures a lot better videos and photos than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have the same video frame rates and the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video quality, the Xperia Tablet Z also has a lot better resolution back-facing camera.
Although Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Samsung ATIV Tab 3. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy Sony Xperia Tablet Z, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Samsung ATIV Tab 3, resigning a couple features and specifications.
