Comparison review
The Xperia Z2 Tablet is a little bit better than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, having a overall score of 69.8 against 65. Xperia Z2 Tablet counts with Android 4.4.4 OS, while Samsung ATIV Tab 3 works with Windows 8 OS. Even though Xperia Z2 Tablet and the Samsung ATIV Tab 3 were released with only 8 months difference, Xperia Z2 Tablet is a lot lighter and extremely thinner.
Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet counts with a better display than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have a same size screen, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet also has a better display pixel density and a way better 1200 x 1920 resolution. The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet features a faster CPU than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, because it has a greater number of cores , an additional graphics processing unit and 1 GB more RAM.
The Xperia Z2 Tablet features a much better camera than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and although they both have the same video frame rates and the same video quality, the Xperia Z2 Tablet also has a camera in the back with lot more megapixels. Samsung ATIV Tab 3 has a much greater memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Xperia Z2 Tablet, because although it has no slot for external memory cards, it also counts with more internal memory capacity.
Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet counts with a much longer battery duration than Samsung ATIV Tab 3.
Although Xperia Z2 Tablet is a better device, it is way more expensive than Samsung ATIV Tab 3, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Samsung ATIV Tab 3. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy Xperia Z2 Tablet, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Samsung ATIV Tab 3, letting go a couple features and specifications.
