The Asus MeMO Pad 8 body is noticeably newer, thinner and way lighter than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Asus MeMO Pad 8 counts with a brighter screen than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, because although it has a really smaller display, it also counts with much more pixels per screen inch and a lot higher 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution. The Asus MeMO Pad 8 has a very superior storage to store more apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and although they both have equal 32 GB internal storage capacity, the Asus MeMO Pad 8 also has a SD memory card expansion slot that holds a maximum of 64 GB.

The Asus MeMO Pad 8 has a quite better hardware performance than Galaxy Tab 10.1, because it has a greater number of cores (and they are faster).
