Both tablets in this comparison review work with Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy Tab Active has newer 4.4 version and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) has Android 4.1 version. Galaxy Tab Active's design is way newer and a bit thinner, but somewhat heavier than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0).
The Galaxy Tab Active has a bit sharper display than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), because it has a little larger screen, a little higher pixel amount per inch of display and a higher resolution of 1280 x 800. The Galaxy Tab Active features a little bit better processing power than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), because it has 2 more processing cores, a graphics co-processor and a larger amount of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active captures slightly better videos and photos than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), and although they both have the same video definition and the same video frame rates, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active also has a more MP camera in the back. The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) features a bigger memory for games and applications than Galaxy Tab Active, because although it has a slot for external memory cards that admits 32 GB smaller, it also counts with 16 GB more internal storage.
The Galaxy Tab Active features a little better battery life than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), because it has a 4450mAh battery capacity instead of 4000mAh.
Although Galaxy Tab Active is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0). If you want to save some dollars, you can buy the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), giving up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
