These tablets use Android OS (Operating System), but the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) has an older 4.1 version while Xperia Tablet S has Android 4.1.1.

The Xperia Tablet S has a quite better hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), and although they both have a 1 GB RAM, the Xperia Tablet S also has an extra graphics co-processor and more processing cores. The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) counts with a bit sharper screen than Sony Xperia Tablet S, because although it has a lot worse 600 x 1024 pixels resolution and a much smaller display, it also counts with a quite greater display pixel density.

Xperia Tablet S counts with a lot bigger memory capacity to install applications and games than Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), because it has 32 GB more internal storage capacity and a slot for external memory cards that admits a maximum of 128 GB. Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) features a much better battery life than Xperia Tablet S.

The Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) takes slightly better photos and videos than Xperia Tablet S, although it has a lot less mega pixels resolution back camera.
