Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch has an overall score of 65.9, which is a bit better than Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016)'s 60.4 score. Both of these tablets include Android operating system, but Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch has an older 4.2 version while Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) has Android 5.1 Lollipop version. Although the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch is way older and extremely heavier than Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016), it's design is still a bit thinner.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) counts with a bit more vivid display than Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch, because although it has a really smaller screen, and they both have the same exact resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) also counts with a higher pixels count per display inch.
The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch counts with a lot bigger memory to store more apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016), because although it has an external SD slot that allows 136 GB smaller, it also counts with more internal memory. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) has a processing unit that is just as good as the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch one, although the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) also has 512 MB more RAM and a higher number of cores.
Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch features a very superior battery duration than Galaxy Tab A (2016), because it has 6800mAh of battery capacity against 4000mAh. Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) shoots a bit better photos and videos than Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch, and although they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate and the same 1280x720 (HD) video quality, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) also has a way more megapixels back facing camera.
Although Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Galaxy Tab A (2016), and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Galaxy Tab A (2016). So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch, else you can save a couple dollars and buy the Galaxy Tab A (2016), giving up some specs and features.
