The GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) has a global score of 77.4, which is better than Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch's 68.7 global score. GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)'s body is just a bit thicker and heavier than Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch. These tablets use Android OS (Operating System), but GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) has newer 4.4.2 version while Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch has Android 4.2.2.
The Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) counts with just a bit better performance than Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch, because although it has a worse graphics co-processor, it also counts with 1,5 GB more RAM memory and a larger number of cores. The GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) counts with a much more vibrant screen than Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch, because it has a much higher resolution of 1600 x 2560, a way better display pixels density and a bigger display.

So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy GALAXY Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch, letting go a couple features and specs.
