The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) is a little bit better than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), having a 70.2 score against 65.7. Although the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) is older and noticeably heavier than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), it's construction is still a bit thinner. Both tablets in this review use Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) has older 8.1 Oreo version and Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) has Android 9.0 Pie version.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) features a slightly better looking display than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), because it has a lot higher 1200 x 1920 resolution, a little bit greater amount of pixels in each inch of display and a larger display. The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) counts with a slightly bigger memory capacity for games and applications than Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016), and although they both have exactly the same 16 GB internal storage, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017) also has a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 256 GB.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) counts with a little better hardware performance than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), and although they both have the same RAM memory amount, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) also has a larger number of cores (and they are faster). Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016) counts with a much better battery life than Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2017), because it has a 46 percent more battery size.
