Comparison review
The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is a little bit better than the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, getting a global score of 74.5 against 68.5. These tablets use Android OS, but Galaxy Tab A 10.5 has newer 9.0 Pie version and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has Android 4.2.2 version, so it gives some additional features. Galaxy Tab A 10.5's construction has the same thickness than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, but it's extremely heavier.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a much more vibrant screen than Galaxy Tab A 10.5, because although it has a little bit smaller display, it also counts with way more pixels per display inch and a better resolution of 1600 x 2560. The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 counts with a much greater memory capacity for games and applications than Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, because although it has just 32 GB internal storage, it also counts with a slot for an external memory card that allows up to 400 GB.
