Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch is better than the Galaxy Tab A (2016), with a global score of 68.7 against 60.4. These tablets work with Android OS, but the Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch has older 4.2.2 version and Galaxy Tab A (2016) has Android 5.1 Lollipop version. Although Galaxy Tab 3 8-inch is noticeably older and somewhat heavier than the Galaxy Tab A (2016), it's construction is still thinner.
