Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface 2 is a bit better than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, getting a overall score of 63.4 against 62.8. Even being the best device in this comparison, it must be told that it is also older, somewhat thicker and heavier. The Microsoft Surface 2 comes with Windows RT 8.1 OS, while Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 counts with Android 7.1 Nougat OS.
Microsoft Surface 2 has a little faster processing unit than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, and although they both have a Quad-Core CPU, the Microsoft Surface 2 also has a higher amount of RAM memory. Microsoft Surface 2 has a much better looking display than Galaxy Tab A 8.0, because it has a lot larger screen, a higher display density and a lot better resolution of 1080 x 1920.
Microsoft Surface 2's camera is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 one, and although the Microsoft Surface 2 has a much higher 1920x1080 video quality, they both have a back facing camera with a 5 megapixels resolution. Microsoft Surface 2 features a quite bigger storage to store more games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, because although it has no SD memory slot, it also counts with more internal memory capacity.

Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy Tab A 8.0, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy Tab A 8.0. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can get Galaxy Tab A 8.0, and give up a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most with your savings.
