Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is a little bit better than Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020), getting a score of 60.5 against 58.6. Both devices we are comparing here include Android OS, but Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has the previous 7.1 Nougat version while Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020) has Android 9.0 Pie version. Although the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is incredibly older and much heavier than the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020), it's body is still thinner.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020) counts with a sharper display than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a bit smaller screen, it also counts with a little higher 800 x 1280px resolution and a higher pixel count per inch of display. Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020) counts with a bit more powerful processing unit than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and although they both have a Quad-Core CPU, the Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020) also has more RAM.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020) features a much bigger memory capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because it has a SD card slot that supports a maximum of 1000 GB and 16 GB more internal memory capacity. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 features a much better battery performance than Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020).

Galaxy Tab A 9.7 shoots much clearer videos and photos than Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020), and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same (HD) video resolution, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 also has a much more mega-pixels camera in the back.

If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020), letting go a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
