Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is just a bit better than the Microsoft Surface RT, getting a 60.5 score against 58.4. The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 construction is notably newer, a lot lighter and extremely thinner than Microsoft Surface RT. The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 works with Android 7.1 Nougat OS, and Microsoft Surface RT has Windows RT OS.
Microsoft Surface RT has a better looking screen than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because it has a little higher 768 x 1366px resolution, a little bigger screen and a little higher pixel quantity per inch of display. The Microsoft Surface RT features just a little better hardware performance than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and although they both have 4 CPU cores, the Microsoft Surface RT also has a greater amount of RAM and an extra graphics processing unit.
The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 features a way better camera than Microsoft Surface RT, and although they both have the same (HD) video definition and the same video frame rate, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 also has a camera with way more mega pixels. The Microsoft Surface RT features a better storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has no slot for an external memory card, it also counts with 64 GB internal memory.

Although Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is a better device, it costs more than Microsoft Surface RT, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Microsoft Surface RT. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Microsoft Surface RT, letting go some specs and features.
