The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is a bit better than Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016), with a overall score of 60.5 against 60.4. These tablets include Android OS, but the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a more recent 7.1 Nougat version and Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) has Android 5.1 Lollipop, giving a couple additional features. The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 construction is somewhat thinner than Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016), but it is extremely heavier and was released just 11 months before.

The Galaxy Tab A (2016) features a sharper display than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a way smaller screen, it also counts with a much greater pixel amount per inch of display and a slightly better 800 x 1280 resolution. The Galaxy Tab A (2016) has a bit more powerful processor than Galaxy Tab A 9.7. Both of them have a Quad-Core processing unit and a 1,5 GB RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016) shoots better photos and videos than Galaxy Tab A 9.7. Both have a 5 MP resolution camera, the same video frame rate and the same (HD) video quality.
