The Galaxy Tab Active 2 is better than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, having a 70 score against 60.5. Both of these tablets have Android OS, but Galaxy Tab Active 2 has newer 9.0 Pie version while Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has Android 7.1 Nougat version, so it counts with lots of additional features and performance optimizations. Galaxy Tab Active 2 is a much newer and just a little bit lighter tablet than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, but it's also extremely thicker.
The Galaxy Tab Active 2 has a better screen than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, it also counts with a slightly better 800 x 1280px resolution and more pixels per inch in the screen. Galaxy Tab Active 2 counts with a little bit better processing power than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because it has a higher number of faster cores and more RAM memory.
Galaxy Tab Active 2 has a lot better camera than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because it has a way higher 8 mega pixels resolution camera in the back and a much higher 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution. The Galaxy Tab Active 2 features a quite bigger storage for apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and although they both have the same internal memory capacity, the Galaxy Tab Active 2 also has a SD card slot that allows up to 256 GB.

Although Galaxy Tab Active 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy Tab A 9.7. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can buy Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and give up a few features and specs, but you will get the most with your budget.
