The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is slightly better than Xperia Tablet S, getting a overall score of 60.5 against 58.9. Both tablets in this review have Android OS, but the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has a newer 7.1 Nougat version while Xperia Tablet S has Android 4.1.1. Galaxy Tab A 9.7's design is noticeably newer, much thinner and notably lighter than Xperia Tablet S.
The Xperia Tablet S features a much better looking display than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a little bit smaller display, it also counts with a bit better amount of pixels per inch in the screen and a bit higher 800 x 1280 resolution. Sony Xperia Tablet S features a much better storage capacity for games and applications than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and although they both have an external memory slot that holds a maximum of 128 GB, the Sony Xperia Tablet S also has 64 GB internal memory capacity.
The Xperia Tablet S features just a bit better performance than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has lesser RAM memory, and they both have the same number of cores, the Xperia Tablet S also counts with an extra graphics processing unit. The Galaxy Tab A 9.7 counts with a way better battery lifetime than Sony Xperia Tablet S.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 features a little bit better camera than Xperia Tablet S, although it has a much less MP resolution back-facing camera.
Even being the best tablet in our current comparison, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 is also by far the cheapest.
