Galaxy Tab Active has an overall score of 67, which is much better than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7's global score of 60.5. Although Galaxy Tab Active and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 were only released 8 months apart, the Galaxy Tab Active design is somewhat lighter but also noticeably thicker. Both tablets in this review use Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy Tab Active has the previous 4.4 version while Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 has Android 7.1 Nougat version.
Galaxy Tab Active counts with a little faster processing unit than Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and although they both have the same number of cores and a 1,5 GB RAM, the Galaxy Tab Active also has an extra GPU. The Galaxy Tab Active counts with a much sharper display than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a better screen density and a quite better 1280 x 800 resolution.
Galaxy Tab Active features a slightly better camera than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7, although it has a lower 1280x720 video definition and a back-facing camera with lot less mega pixels. Galaxy Tab A 9.7 counts with slightly more memory to install applications and games than Galaxy Tab Active, and although they both have equal internal memory capacity, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 also has an external SD slot that supports up to 128 GB.
Galaxy Tab A 9.7 counts with improved battery life than Galaxy Tab Active, because it has a 35% more battery capacity.
Although Galaxy Tab Active is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Tab A 9.7. If you are trying to save some money, you can buy the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, letting go some specs and features, but you will get the most with your savings.
