Both of these tablets use Android OS (operating system), but Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has an older 4.4.2 version and Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has Android 7.1 Nougat. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 design is just a little lighter and somewhat thinner than Galaxy Tab A 8.0, although it was released around 11 months before.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 counts with a way better display than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, because it has a way better 2560 x 1600px resolution, a lot higher screen pixels density and a bit larger screen.
