These tablets use Android operating system, but Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 has a more recent 4.4.2 version and Sony Tablet S has Android 4.0 version. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is a much newer tablet device, and it's also extremely thinner and lighter than the Sony Tablet S.
