The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is much better than the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, having a overall score of 82.4 against 68.5. The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) body is a lot newer, but thicker and extremely heavier than the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has Windows 10 Pro operating system, while Sony Xperia Tablet Z has Android 4.4.4 operating system.

The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a bit superior CPU than Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics co-processor and less CPU cores (but faster), it also counts with more RAM. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z counts with a slightly better looking display than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), although it has a lot worse resolution of 1200 x 1920 pixels, a quite inferior number of pixels per inch of screen and a bit smaller display.

The Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) has a very superior memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has no slot for external memory cards, it also counts with 968 GB more internal memory. The Xperia Tablet Z features a superior battery duration than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017).

Xperia Tablet Z takes a little bit better photos and videos than Microsoft Surface Pro (2017), and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition, the Xperia Tablet Z also has a more megapixels back facing camera.

Although Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Sony Xperia Tablet Z, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. If you are trying to save some dollars, you can buy the Sony Xperia Tablet Z, giving up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most with your money.
