The Xperia Tablet Z has a general score of 68.5, which is better than the Microsoft Surface RT's score of 58.4. Xperia Tablet Z is a way thinner and lighter portable tablet than Microsoft Surface RT, even when both of them were only released 7 months apart. Xperia Tablet Z works with Android 4.4.4 OS, and Microsoft Surface RT comes with Windows RT OS.
The Microsoft Surface RT's CPU is very similar to the Xperia Tablet Z one, and although the Microsoft Surface RT has a better graphics processor running at 520 megahertz, they both have the same number of cores and a 2 GB RAM memory. Xperia Tablet Z counts with a sharper display than Microsoft Surface RT, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a way higher 1200 x 1920 resolution and way more pixels per inch in the display.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z captures much better photos and videos than Microsoft Surface RT, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition and the same video frame rate, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z also has a camera with way more mega pixels. The Microsoft Surface RT features a slightly better memory to install applications and games than Xperia Tablet Z, because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with more internal storage capacity.
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z counts with a very superior battery performance than Microsoft Surface RT.
Although Xperia Tablet Z is a better device, it is way more expensive than Microsoft Surface RT, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Microsoft Surface RT. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Xperia Tablet Z, else you can save some dollars and buy the Microsoft Surface RT, giving up a couple features and specifications.
