Comparison review
The Microsoft Surface 2 has a general score of 63.4, which is much better than Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch's global score of 55.9. The Microsoft Surface 2 construction has the same thickness than Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch, but it is somewhat heavier. Both devices we are comparing here use Windows OS (operating system), but the Microsoft Surface 2 has the newer RT 8.1 version while Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch has Windows 8.1, offering lots of additional features and performance tweaks.
Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch has a little bit better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface 2, because although it has 1 GB lesser RAM, and they both have a Quad-Core processing unit, the Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch also counts with a 64-bits processing unit. Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a screen that is very similar to the display in Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch, although the Microsoft Surface 2 also has a bit larger display, a way higher 1080 x 1920px resolution and more pixels per display inch.
The Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch takes much better pictures and videos than Microsoft Surface 2. They have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition, the same video frame rate and a 5 megapixels resolution camera in the back. The Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch counts with a little bit more storage to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Microsoft Surface 2, although it has only 32 GB internal storage capacity.
The Microsoft Surface 2 counts with a battery life that is just as good as the battery performance in Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch.
Although Microsoft Surface 2 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy the Microsoft Surface 2, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Toshiba Encore 2 10.1-inch, letting go a couple features and specs.
