BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ Review

Score: 56.1 / 100

BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ is a mid-end tablet device, which features a great 1.5 GHz Dual-Core processing unit, a good size 7-inches capacitive display, and two cameras, a 5 megapixels back-facing camera and a 3 MP front side camera.

Apparently Blackberry forgot about optimizing the weight, leaving it live with a weight of 14.99 ounces. The BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ is quite slim and comfortable, although it's not close to being one of the thinnest tablets out there, with a thickness of 0.4".

The BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ has a nice 600 x 1024 7 inches display, making everything look quite good.

Blackberry decided to design the BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ using a high performance 1500 MHz Dual-Core CPU, packed into a TI OMAP4460 chip and only 1 GB of RAM memory which is a little bit poor for a tablet device of this quality. Collaborating with graphic rendering, it also has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU speeding at 384 MHz. This tablet comes with a great 32 GB internal memory and even though it doesn't have an SD extension slot, it is still enough to store hundreds of apps and even the largest games currently available without worrying about how much storage capacity is left.

The BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ counts with Wi-Fi connection (but it can't share it with other devices around, as a mobile mobile hotspot), HSPA+ (4G) connectivity, which is not as fast as LTE-A or LTE networks and fast 3G connection type, supported by HSDPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This tablet doesn't have a SIM card, because it doesn't support GSM services.

The BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ features two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back side camera and a 3 MP front-facing camera.

The BlackBerry PlayBook 3G+ also features a couple of useful characteristics like Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth (2.1, EDR) and GPS, and some sensors likeAccelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass.

This tablet comes with a 4800 mAh big capacity non-replaceable battery providing this tablet an impressive battery life. An issue to take into consideration is that this tablet's battery is non-replaceable so you can't throw it away and buy a new one when it starts to lose its charge, even though with such a big battery you will probably buy a new tablet before it becomes a real problem.

No matter if you will use it as a gamer tablet, need a tablet for work or are looking for a social tablet device, you will probably love this device.
