IPhone 12 Pro Max has an overall score of 93.2, which is much better than the Google Pixel 4a's 82.9 global score. The iPhone 12 Pro Max construction is just a little thinner but way heavier than the Google Pixel 4a, and they were released with only 3 months difference. The iPhone 12 Pro Max works with iOS 15.x operating system, and Google Pixel 4a comes with Android 11 operating system.
IPhone 12 Pro Max features a more powerful processing unit than Google Pixel 4a, because although it has 2 lesser processing cores (although faster), and they both have a 6 GB RAM, the iPhone 12 Pro Max also counts with a 64-bits processor. The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max features a better looking display than Google Pixel 4a, because it has a just a little higher screen density, a higher 1284 x 2778 resolution and a bigger screen.
The Google Pixel 4a's memory for games and applications is just as good as the iPhone 12 Pro Max one, both have the same 128 GB internal memory. IPhone 12 Pro Max has better battery life than Google Pixel 4a, because it has 3687mAh of battery capacity instead of 3140mAh. IPhone 12 Pro Max features a slightly better camera than Google Pixel 4a, because although it has a worse resolution camera and a worse 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, it also counts with a bigger camera aperture to capture better low light photos and videos.
Although Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is a better device, it costs a lot more than Google Pixel 4a, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Google Pixel 4a. So if you need that extra features, you can buy Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, otherwise you can save some money and buy the Google Pixel 4a, resigning some features and specifications.
