IPhone 8 Plus is slightly better than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, having a global score of 87.1 against 82.9. IPhone 8 Plus's design is thinner than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, although it's just a bit heavier and was released about a year before. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with a bit better looking display than iPhone 8 Plus, because it has a better pixels density, a way better 1440 x 3120 resolution and a larger display.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus features a bit superior processing unit than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, because although it has an inferior number of slower cores and 3 GB less RAM, it also counts with a 64 bits CPU. Apple iPhone 8 Plus features a much better storage to store more apps and games than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, because it has 256 GB internal storage capacity.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro captures much clearer photos and videos than iPhone 8 Plus, because although it has worse video frame rate, and they both have the same camera aperture and the same (4K) video definition, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also counts with a much bigger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors and a back camera with way more mega pixels.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features a very superior battery duration than iPhone 8 Plus, because it has a 4200mAh battery capacity against 2691mAh.
Although Apple iPhone 8 Plus is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Huawei Mate 20 Pro. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Apple iPhone 8 Plus, else you can save some dollars and get the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, letting go a couple features and specs.
