Comparison review
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a bit better than Asus ROG Phone, getting a general score of 77.5 against 77.1. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is an older and just a bit heavier phone than Asus ROG Phone, but Xiaomi was able to build it somewhat thinner anyway. The Asus ROG Phone features just a bit better hardware performance than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Asus ROG Phone also has more RAM memory.
The Asus ROG Phone counts with a sharper screen than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a little bit greater screen density and a bit higher resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Asus ROG Phone counts with a much bigger storage for apps and games than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, because although it has no slot for external memory cards, it also counts with 384 GB more internal storage.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features greater battery duration than Asus ROG Phone, because it has 5300mAh of battery capacity instead of 4000mAh. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 takes much better videos and photos than Asus ROG Phone, although it has a smaller aperture which is not so good for low light photography and video, slower 30 frames per second video frame rates and a smaller back-facing camera sensor, they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution.
Despite of being the best phone of the ones we are comparing, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is also by far the cheapest.
