Xperia 5 II is much better than the Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), getting an 87.2 score against 73.1. The Xperia 5 II construction is notably newer, a little lighter and a little thinner than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1). The Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1) and the Sony Xperia 5 II count with really similar screens, although the Sony Xperia 5 II also has a just a bit higher screen pixel density, a quite larger screen and a bit higher resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels.

The Xperia 5 II features a bit bigger storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), because although it has a slot for an external memory card that allows a maximum of 1000 GB against 1,95 TB, it also counts with 128 GB internal memory. The Xperia 5 II features just a little better hardware performance than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Xperia 5 II also has a greater amount of RAM.

The Xperia 5 II features a better camera than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), because although it has a worse (4K) video resolution and a lower 12 mega pixels resolution camera, it also counts with a way larger aperture to take better low light photos. The Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1) has greater battery life than Sony Xperia 5 II, because it has 5000mAh of battery capacity instead of 4000mAh.

Although Sony Xperia 5 II is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1). So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Sony Xperia 5 II, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), letting go some specs and features.
