The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is a little bit better than Google Pixel 2 XL, with an 88.5 score against 82.5. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is a much newer and just a little thinner cellphone than the Google Pixel 2 XL, although it's also a little heavier. Google Pixel 2 XL features a bit sharper display than Galaxy Z Flip, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a better resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels and a greater pixels quantity in each screen inch.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip has a much bigger memory capacity for apps and games than Google Pixel 2 XL, because it has 128 GB more internal memory. The Galaxy Z Flip has a bit better performance than Google Pixel 2 XL, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Galaxy Z Flip also has 4 GB more RAM. Google Pixel 2 XL features a bit better battery life than Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, because it has 3520mAh of battery capacity.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip captures clearer pictures and videos than Google Pixel 2 XL, because although it has a worse 3840x2160 (4K) video quality and a back-facing camera with a lower resolution, and they both have a same size diafragm aperture, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip also counts with a bigger back camera sensor providing a higher image quality.
Although Galaxy Z Flip is a better device, it costs a lot more than Google Pixel 2 XL, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Google Pixel 2 XL. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy Galaxy Z Flip, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Google Pixel 2 XL, letting go a couple features and specifications.
