Comparison review
Google Pixel 4a has an overall score of 82.9, which is a bit better than Google Pixel 3 XL's global score of 80.7. Google Pixel 4a is a newer and noticeably lighter cellphone than the Google Pixel 3 XL, but it's also a bit thicker. Google Pixel 3 XL has a little faster CPU than Google Pixel 4a, although it has 2 GB lesser RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.
Google Pixel 3 XL counts with a bit sharper display than Google Pixel 4a, because it has a just a little higher pixel density, a little bit larger screen and a better resolution of 1440 x 2960. The Google Pixel 3 XL and the Google Pixel 4a feature similar cameras, and although the Google Pixel 4a has a bigger diafragm aperture, they both have a 12.2 mega pixels camera in the back, the same 3840x2160 video quality, the same video frame rates and a same size sensor.
Google Pixel 4a counts with much more memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Google Pixel 3 XL, because it has 64 GB more internal storage. Google Pixel 3 XL counts with a little better battery performance than Google Pixel 4a, because it has a 3430mAh battery capacity against 3140mAh.
Although Google Pixel 4a is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Google Pixel 3 XL, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Google Pixel 3 XL. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy Google Pixel 3 XL, letting go a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most with your budget.
